It is hard to find the right words to describe the loss we experience with Arren's sudden death. Arren was special and unique in every way. I really enjoyed working with him as he was always straight forward with what he wants and needs. He was a tough negotiator who always needed to understand why things were done a certain way. Him being so direct and honest wasn't always appreciated. But he meant what he said, there was no room for speculation and second guessing. Arren had a great sense of humor - he would dish out but was able to take it, too. That is a rare trait for people in his position, with his success and that made working and spending time with him fun. His passing is a great loss for the scientific community and everyone who knew him. Nicole (Portée-Liebner)
