Hi Arren,

I hope you can see this book and also my small contribution and I hope this will create a big smile in your face.

I do remember when we first met  - during the selection symposium of the Max-Planck-Society for identifying leaders of independent Max-Planck-Research groups which took place in 2014 in Frankfurt. You could not be overlooked - in the discussions during this meeting your voice could not be overheard and your arguments which were put forward with a lot of self-confidence were impressive and clearly showed your independent and critical thinking.

After you joined our institute as head of an independent Max-Planck-Research group this first impression was confirmed many times - your sharp intellect, your willingness to argue with full empathy for your ideas and convictions, the absence of any fear from "authorities", but also your willingness to give advice and be helpful for all colleagues at the institute.

You were a true true scientist.

I also remember you as a very warm-hearted person who was willing to open himself and to talk about private and very private issues. A very warm-hearted person who however does not make his life easy for himself. But again you were not shy of voicing opinions which you knew will not only make you friends. 

Dear Arren, I will remember you as a truly impressive scientist and a truly impressive human being. And I wish you feel good wherever you are.
