I think most of us remember clearly the first moment when they have met Arren. The talk he gave at our institute was brilliant (and very loud), and made it clear to me that things are going to change when he joins MPIMP. I have heard many unbelievable stories about Arren, and more specifically, his rudeneness. After few seconds in his presence, I realized that they were not exaggerated. But damn, Arren could pull it off! I have never met anybody so rude, clever and likeable at the same time! Of course, Arren was good at giving ("Marek, you are going bald") and receiving ("Arren, how can you tell from down there?"). After moving to Singapore, we lost touch, but I was happy to see how large his group grew, and how many brilliant publications he produced. I was proud of him, of knowing him, and are deeply saddened by his passing. He lived his life 200% on every level and I am sure he is now hanging out with Mozart, Cobain, Ramanujan, Riemann, Pascal and other greats who died too early. He was a giant. Marek Mutwil
